Description
A PVC Tee 90° female thread 1,1/4″ connects three pipes at a 90-degree angle. With one or more openings having internal threads to accept male threaded components. These fittings can be found in various sizes and specifications, including different schedules and thread types.
Considerations when buying a tee 90° female thread 1,1/4″
- Schedule: This refers to the wall thickness, which affects a fitting’s pressure rating. Schedule 40 PVC is usually white and suitable for lower-pressure uses like irrigation and plumbing. Schedule 80 is often grey, has thicker walls, and is used for higher-pressure or industrial applications.
- Connection type: Some fittings have both solvent-weld (slip) and female threaded ends. A tee with female threads on all three sides allows for full disassembly. While one with solvent-weld ends creates a permanent, airtight, and leak-proof seal.
- Thread type: PVC fittings typically use straight threads, unlike the tapered NPT (National Pipe Thread). For best results, use PVC thread sealant (pipe dope) to ensure a watertight seal when connecting threaded PVC fittings, rather than using PTFE tape.
