Description
The 500 L/h Manual Ultrafiltration System is a compact membrane-based water filtration system designed for applications requiring high-quality particulate and microbiological barrier filtration without the dissolved-salt removal associated with reverse osmosis.
The system uses hollow-fibre ultrafiltration (UF) membrane technology. During operation, feed water is forced through the membrane under pressure, allowing water and smaller dissolved components to pass while retaining many suspended solids, colloidal particles and larger microorganisms.
With a nominal production capacity of up to 500 litres per hour, this system is suited to smaller commercial, institutional and light industrial water-treatment applications where manual operation is acceptable.
The system is supplied with the valves and flow meters required for normal filtration and manual backwashing. Backwashing is performed by manually changing the relevant valves to flush accumulated contaminants from the membrane.
Important: Pre-treatment required
We recommend suitable pre-treatment before the ultrafiltration system, as it is vital for maintaining optimal membrane performance and service life. Operators should analyse raw water and appropriately treat it before it enters the UF membranes. Depending on the source-water quality, pre-treatment may include sediment filtration, multimedia or glass filtration, activated carbon, iron and manganese removal, softening, or other treatment stages. Proper pre-treatment helps reduce membrane fouling, scaling, and contamination and can significantly improve membrane performance and service life.
