Description

The 10″ Diameter DMI-65 Iron Removal System with a Manual Backwash Head is a highly effective water treatment solution designed to remove dissolved iron, manganese, and hydrogen sulphide from borehole, well, and municipal water supplies. Built around a durable FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) pressure vessel and filled with premium DMI-65 catalytic filtration media, this system delivers exceptional water quality while protecting plumbing, pumps, appliances, and downstream filtration equipment.

Iron contamination is one of the most common water quality issues experienced in South Africa. Furthermore, water containing elevated iron levels often appears brown or reddish, leaves unsightly stains on toilets, basins, baths, paving, and laundry, and can produce unpleasant metallic tastes and odours. Over time, excessive iron and manganese can clog pipes, foul water treatment equipment, reduce pump efficiency, and increase maintenance costs.

The DMI-65 filtration media is specifically engineered to provide superior iron and manganese removal through advanced catalytic oxidation. Unlike conventional filter media, DMI-65 offers outstanding performance, high loading capacity, and long service life when operated under the correct water conditions. It is particularly suited for residential, agricultural, commercial, and light industrial water treatment applications where consistent water quality and dependable operation are essential.

This system is fitted with a manual backwash control head, allowing the operator to easily perform routine cleaning of the filter media. During backwashing, trapped contaminants are flushed from the vessel, restoring filtration efficiency and extending the lifespan of the media. Furthermore the manual valve offers a simple, reliable, and cost-effective solution for installations where automatic backwashing is not required or where power availability is limited.

Manufactured using a corrosion-resistant FRP pressure vessel, the system is designed to withstand demanding operating conditions while remaining lightweight and maintenance-friendly. Additionally the compact 10-inch diameter vessel makes it suitable for installations where space is limited without compromising filtration performance.

How the System Works:

Raw water enters the pressure vessel and flows through the DMI-65 catalytic media bed. As the water passes through the media, dissolved iron and manganese are oxidised and converted into insoluble particles that are captured within the filter bed. The treated water then exits the vessel, delivering cleaner, clearer water throughout the property.

As contaminants accumulate within the media, periodic manual backwashing is performed using the manual control valve. This reverses the water flow, flushing trapped particles to drain and restoring the media’s filtration efficiency.

Routine backwashing helps maintain consistent performance while extending the operational life of the filtration media.
