Description

The 27mm Bottom Strainer is an internal water-distribution and collection component designed for compatible FRP water-treatment vessels. Installed at the bottom of the vessel, it connects to the internal riser pipe and helps distribute and collect water during the filtration and backwashing cycles.

During normal filtration, the bottom strainer allows treated water to pass from the filter media into the internal riser pipe while helping retain the treatment media within the vessel. During backwashing, the system reverses the water flow, and the strainer distributes water through the media bed to assist with cleaning and removal of accumulated contaminants.

The 27mm Bottom Strainer is suitable for compatible water softeners, activated carbon filters, quartz or sand filters and other media-based water-treatment systems that use a 27mm internal riser and distributor assembly.

Applications:

1. Water Softening

Used in compatible water-softening vessels containing ion-exchange resin. The bottom strainer helps collect treated water and direct it into the central riser pipe while helping retain the resin inside the vessel.

Suitable for compatible activated carbon filter vessels. The strainer allows treated water to pass into the riser while helping prevent carbon media from entering the internal water-flow pathway.

How the Bottom Strainer Works:

The bottom strainer is installed at the base of the FRP vessel and connects to the central 27mm riser pipe.

A typical arrangement is:

Water enters the vessel
↓
Water flows through the treatment media
↓
Treated water reaches the bottom distributor
↓
The distributor collects the treated water
↓
Water enters the central riser pipe
↓
Water returns through the filter head

The exact water-flow direction depends on the vessel, valve head and filtration configuration.

During backwashing, the flow direction is reversed. Water is directed through the internal distribution system and through the treatment media to loosen accumulated contaminants and fines, which are then carried out of the vessel through the filter head.
