Installation Instructions
Thank you for choosing The Water Company’s Multi-Jet brass hot water meter – 25mm.
This device has undergone thorough testing and verification at Precision Meters’ SANAS Accredited Verification Laboratory, conducted by a certified Verification Officer, to ensure it meets SANS 1529-1:2019 Class B specifications. It is supplied in full working order.
As a precision instrument, the water meter features exacting tolerances between its moving parts and is designed exclusively for measuring potable water. Exposure to grit, sand, or other suspended solids can cause permanent damage to the meter. Such damage incurred during installation is not covered by The Water Company warranty.
To ensure proper installation, it is imperative that the installer maintains cleanliness throughout the process. Thoroughly flush the pipeline before installing the meter.
Installation Requirements
The NRCS approves this water meter for both vertical and horizontal installations. Installation angle does not affect its accuracy.
For installation, use the appropriate water meter tailpieces, which are available separately. Note: Do not screw standard female pipe adaptors directly onto the inlet/outlet of the water meter.
Please be aware that this meter is designed for hot water with a maximum operating temperature of 90 °C. Higher temperatures will irreparably damage the meter. Avoid using solder or applying heat near the meter during installation, as heat can travel through the pipe and damage the meter’s internal components.
Finally do not install the meter where it may be exposed to shock, cavitation, water hammer, or surges caused by rapid valve operation to prevent damage. For example that the pipework aligns properly to avoid installation stresses on the meter. Additionally, the meter must be installed in a location protected from freezing, as frozen water can damage or burst the meter. Install at least one meter away from areas with potential freeze risks, such as a standpipe.
